🟧Bitcoin: BRC-20

BRC-20, or Bitcoin Request for Comment 20, is a protocol modeled after Ethereum's ERC-20, introduced in March 2023 by Domo. BRC-20 enables the creation of tokens on the Bitcoin blockchain, similar to ERC-20 tokens on Ethereum. However, BRC-20 is not a smart contract, it is an inscription.

These tokens use Ordinal Protocol, introduced after Bitcoin’s Taproot upgrade. Ordinals inscribe a serial number onto a Satoshi, the smallest currency unit of Bitcoin, verifying ownership of funds and preventing double-spending.

BRC-20 Token Inscription Example:

{ "p": "brc-20", "op": "deploy", "tick": "ordi", "max": "21000000", "lim": "1000" }
