The Lieutenant plays a vital role in the Space Raiders team. As the second in command, they assist the Mission Driver in ensuring that everyone is on task and that members are present in the right Twitter spaces at the right time. The Lieutenant also takes charge in the absence of the Mission Driver and is responsible for ensuring that the mission continues without interruption.

One of the primary responsibilities of the Lieutenant is to make sure that new members are welcomed into the team and are escorted to the correct spaces. They also make sure that new members understand how the process works and are comfortable with their role within the team.

They are also able to perform all of the other jobs within the team. They are the commander in training, and as such, are expected to have a thorough understanding of each team member's role and be able to step in and fill any gaps as needed. The Lieutenant is also expected to give feedback to other team members on how to improve their roles and provide suggestions to better the team's performance.
